Bobi y cuqui en espanol von Rita Wirkala

A series of 42 cartoons in Spanish depicting a Spanish-speaking canine duo. The series has been designed for instruction and entertainment for native and non-native Spanish speakers. The book is a complementary material for All Bllingual Press' series Espanol para chicos y grandes, Levels 1 and 2. It's an amusing way for children from heritage families to sharpen their language skills. The stories are a fun way to learn for non-native Spanish speakers of any age. The jokes are appropriate for little kids, older children, and their parents. At the bottom of each page is an English-language glossary. Other Spanish jokes, vocabulary explanations, and an appendix with complete translations, and a guessing exercise follow the series. ("adivinanzas".) Rita Wirkala writes fiction and poetry, translates children's stories and founded All Bilingual Press. Her novel "El encuentro" (The Encounter) was a finalist for the International Latino Book Award and the Books Into Movies Award. A native of Argentina, she has traveled extensively, deepening her knowledge of global literature. Settling in Seattle, Ms. Wirkala taught for many years at the University of Washington and now teaches creative writing with the writers' group Seattle Escribe. Underlying all of her work is a deep appreciation of the value of traditional literature and storytelling.
